WFMI - Whole Foods Market, Inc. $59.00 (+1.31) The Austin, Texas purveyor of natural foods and nutritional items has had a roller coaster ride higher this year. It last paid out a 2:1 split in November of 1993 at $41.25 a share. We could expect another 2:1, as the company has plenty of authorized shares. This most likely will come at the next earnings announcement on 2/20/01. The recent run, due in most part to money flowing to defensive sectors, brings the stock back into split territory. GDW - Golden West Financial $58.00 (+4.25) Golden West last announced a split on 11/02/99 at $43.25 during a BoD meeting. The split paid 3:2. The company does not currently have enough authorized shares to split, but we feel it could authorize more shares at these price levels and announce a split at the next BoD meeting or with the next earnings announcement scheduled for 1/17/01. |
